We are looking for a Senior Clinical Laboratory Scientist with the Clinical Laboratory Department at Queen of the Valley Medical Center. Location: Napa, CA
Schedule: Full Time - 80 biweekly hours
Shift: 8-hour, Evenings Job Summary:
In assigned area, is the primary technical resource. Performs lab analyses, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in the performance of the daily workload. Performs all work under minimal supervision Assists the Clinical Lab Scientist Supervisor with modifications to workflow and implementation of new instrumentation and methods. Ages of Patients Served: Not Applicable Essential Functions:

• In conjunction with the CLS Supervisor, helps to ensure accuracy and reproducibility, completion and timeliness of all procedures performed.
• Ensures adherence to quality control guidelines and assists in the troubleshooting of QC failures.
• Participates in ensuring that all instrumentation and equipment is maintained according to manufacturer's guidelines and departmental policy. Helps to complete record keeping for all instrumentation and equipment and acts as a resource for troubleshooting.
• Participates with ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements and helps section prepare for periodic surveys and inspections.
• In conjunction with the CLS Supervisor makes recommendations for new equipment and new or improved lab tests. Evaluates workflow and makes suggestions for improvements.
• Provides input to the CLS Supervisor on personnel performance in the section.
• Reviews procedure manual for all tests performed and makes suggestions for edits as needed.
• Is proficient, competent and the primary technical resource on procedures and instrumentation in the assigned section.
• Participates in the testing of CAP proficiency samples and assists with the collection of performance data and Performance Improvement measures.
• Performs all essential functions of the Clinical Laboratory Scientist. Follows universal precautions for blood and body fluids to ensure a safe work environment for all employees. Skills:

  • Ability to multi-task. Position Requirements: Education: Bachelor's Degree in Biological Sciences
    Experience: 3 years Experience in a clinical laboratory in an acute care setting following licensure or certification.
    License/Certification:--Current California Clinical Laboratory Scientist license. Preferred Position Qualifications: Experience: Supervisory experience.
