enhance life. Job Summary The Head of Strategic R&D
Partnerships is responsible for identifying, developing, and
managing strategic partnerships that advance Emergent BioSolutions’
Research & Development (R&D) scientific and development
objectives. Reporting to the Head of R&D, this role will ensure
that Emergent has strong, effective relationships with key external
stakeholders, including government agencies (GOs), non-governmental
organizations (NGOs), academic institutions, and industry partners.
The individual will serve as a key external representative of
Emergent’s R&D efforts, requiring a high degree of technical
credibility, strategic acumen, and the ability to engage with
senior officials across various sectors. Internally, this role must
work seamlessly across the organization, fostering collaboration
and alignment. This position requires an individual with a deep
understanding of the biopharmaceutical R&D landscape, an
ability to navigate complex partnerships, and do so with a
results-oriented mindset. The ideal candidate is highly adaptable,
possesses strong communication and negotiation skills, and can
effectively advocate for Emergent’s strategic R&D priorities
while building long-term, mutually beneficial partnerships. The
individual must have strong leadership and problem-solving
capabilities, be a “self-starter” and be able to proactively
identify and take action on potential areas of scientific, research
and development collaboration with key partners. Essential

Strategic Partnership Development Identify, map, and assess
potential strategic partners for Emergent’s R&D efforts,
including government entities, academic institutions, research
centers, and industry collaborators. Develop and implement a
comprehensive partnership strategy to advance Emergent’s R&D
goals, ensuring alignment with broader corporate objectives. Build
and maintain high-level relationships with external stakeholders,
acting as a trusted and credible representative of Emergent’s
R&D organization. Track and manage existing collaborations,
identifying opportunities to expand or optimize partnerships for
greater impact. Evaluate potential opportunities for new alliances,
collaborations, and joint ventures that align with Emergent’s
innovation and R&D strategies. Internal and External
Stakeholder Engagement Serve as a key liaison between Emergent and
strategic external partners, ensuring seamless communication and
collaboration. Work closely with internal stakeholders, including
Medical Affairs, Clinical Development Research & Early Development,
Business Development, Medical Countermeasures Marketing and
Government Affairs to align partnership efforts with corporate
priorities. Provide insights and recommendations to senior
leadership on strategic engagement opportunities and partnership
risks. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure
partnership agreements, joint research initiatives, and funding
opportunities are effectively managed. Represent Emergent at
scientific meetings, industry conferences, and partnership forums,
positioning the company as a leader in biopharmaceutical R&D.
Operational Excellence & Execution Establish and maintain a
structured approach to tracking and managing strategic
partnerships, ensuring clarity on objectives, deliverables, and
impact. Develop reporting mechanisms to assess the value and
effectiveness of partnerships, providing regular updates to R&D
leadership. Ensure that partnership activities comply with
regulatory, legal, and corporate governance standards. Act as a
catalyst for collaboration within the company, fostering an open
and transparent approach to working with internal teams. The above

Minimum Education, Experience, Skills Advanced degree in Life
Sciences, Business, or related field (Ph.D., M.D., or MBA
preferred). Minimum 10 years in the biopharmaceutical industry,
with a strong background in strategic partnerships, R&D, or
business development. Demonstrated ability to engage effectively
with senior government officials, NGO leaders, and academic
researchers. Strong understanding of the global R&D ecosystem,
including funding opportunities, regulatory considerations, and
industry trends. Exceptional communication, negotiation, and
relationship management skills. Technical credibility and gravitas
to represent Emergent’s current pipeline and development
capabilities to potential partners. Ability to navigate complex
internal and external dynamics and foster collaboration. Highly
adaptable, proactive, and capable of operating in a fast-paced
environment. Experience working with cross-functional teams and
managing partnerships across diverse stakeholders. Strong
analytical and strategic thinking skills, with the ability to
assess opportunities and risks associated with partnerships. U.S.
Base Pay Ranges and Benefits Information The estimated annual base
salary as a new hire for this position ranges from $234,500 to
$283,700. . Individual base pay depends on various factors such as
applicant’s education, experience, skills, and abilities, as well
as internal equity and alignment with market data. The salary may
also be adjusted based on applicant’s geographic location. Certain
roles are eligible for additional incentive compensation, including
merit increases, annual bonus, [and/or long-term incentives in the
