Adams Vegetable Oils Inc. (AVO) is a leading provider of specialty
vegetable oils, supplying both domestic and international customers
in a wide range of markets.
The company is currently seeking qualified candidates for Quality
Manager at its oil refining plant, located in Arbuckle California
(approximately 40 mi. North of Sacramento).

Job Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
The Quality Manager reports directly to the Adams Group Quality and
Food Safety (QFS) Director. The Quality Manager is responsible for
QFS programs at Adams Vegetable Oils, with growth opportunity to
manage equivalent programs at other Adams Group entities.
Adams Vegetable Oils has a growing number of specialty products
which require nuanced, detailed QFS program management. The Quality
Manager should be excited by the dynamic nature of a growing
product portfolio with an eagerness to learn about new products and
markets.
The Quality Manager will develop an intimate knowledge of all
production line and laboratory processes, and be a true Quality
Expert for all products offered by Adams Vegetable Oils. This
knowledge helps the Quality Manager successfully collaborate with
the Plant Manager, Lab Manager, Safety Director, and other company
personnel to accomplish the companys goals in regard to product
quality and customer satisfaction.
- Collaborate with QFS Director to set corporate direction for
quality systems and implement process improvements, as needed.
- Implement, maintain, and update QFS programs including but not
limited to
- Environmental Monitoring
- Annual Monitoring of Product Quality
- Shelf Life
- Allergen
- Food Defense
- GMP
- Risk Assessments
- Organic
- Non-GMO
- Kosher, Halal, RSPO
- Micro program including process water & equipment
sanitation
- Regularly audits QFS programs for continuous improvement
- Leads customer, regulatory, and supplier audits in
collaboration with QFS Director
- Assists in developing and delivering educational materials for
team member training in relation to QFS programs or corrective
actions
- First point of contact for product quality incidents.
- Investigates and real-time problem solves incidents & losses
both independently and in collaboration with other departments such
as operations, customer service, and production planning
- Monthly review of incidents, analyze trends, compile findings
for publication to management, operations, and sales team
members
- Provides QFS focused guidance when collaborating with other
departments on various projects, including developing SOPs in
collaboration with operations, lab, production planning, customer
service, or other departments.
- Manages customer-facing QFS Documentation such as Product Data
Sheets
- Audits for accuracy and updates when applicable
- Responsible for Specification Management across different
commodities and products with the goal of streamlining
specifications for operations while satisfying customer concerns
and requirements.
- Creates and updates inventory items in ERP
- Supports R&D efforts by developing and managing testing
regimes for new or changed product quality; successfully
accumulates meaningful data, analyzes, and reports results to
management
- Presents technical knowledge regarding QFS items to customers
to support Operations and Sales teams when needed
- Promptly informs management of known or anticipated
problems
- Exercises tact and discretion in interpersonal contacts;
respects confidentiality of privileged information particularly
with developing products
- Demonstrates commitment to continued personal and professional
growth
Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Food Science, Chemistry or related
field
- Experience in food production, especially Organic, Non-GMO,
Kosher and Halal requirements
- Experience managing 1+ direct reports
- Excellent grasp of Microsoft Office programs and ERP/MRP
systems, typing and report writing skills
- Excellent time management and communication, collaboration, and
teamwork skills
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Sense of urgency & ability to meet deadlines
- Self-directed and able to independently execute job
requirements
- Legally authorized to work in the United States
- Must be proficient in reading, speaking and writing in English
for the purpose of record keeping, safety and quality training
processes.
- Willing to work in any of our operating locations (Arbuckle and
Woodland)
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a
computer
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
